The traffic in Greenville is becoming more crowded and dangerous by the day. We saw another confirmation of this cruel reality this week when the lives of 60 students from Beck Academy were in danger. 60 Greenville student lives endangered in school bus crash.
According to Greenville News, the crash occurred on Wednesday morning, around 8:30, on Woodruff Road. At a regular stop, the Beck Academy school bus carrying the 60 students was rear-ended by a convertible.
Apparently, everyone on the bus got away unharmed. Only one student complained of shoulder pain and was released after the medical examination. Sadly, the same thing cannot be said about the driver of the convertible.
The car basically went under the school bus and the driver was trapped in it. He was extricated from the car and taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is still undisclosed, but judging by the accident scene photos, the situation does not look very encouraging.
Witnessing the accident was surely a traumatic experience for the students as well. The services of a nurse and counselor were made available to them, and the school staff worked with the parents to determine whether it was safe to let them go home.
Even after the students are released, the parents should pay attention to their children’s condition and request a medical examination if they notice unusual symptoms like headaches, dizziness, bone or muscle pain, nausea, etc. Some accident injuries go unnoticed in the adrenaline rush and it is important that they be diagnosed and treated on time.
Considering that this was a rear-end accident and the school bus had the signage deployed, the driver of the convertible was most likely at fault. This means that they (more specifically their liability insurance provider) are liable for any consequences of the accident, namely the damage to the school bus and any student medical bills.
